Pregnancy Due Date Calculator

Calculate your expected delivery date (EDD) using Naegele's rule, adjusted for your cycle length. Shows current gestational week, trimester, and dual BS/AD due dates.

Calculation method

First day of your last menstrual period. Most common method.

Most cycles are 28 days. If yours is longer or shorter, the due date adjusts.

Naegele's rule: EDD = first day of last menstrual period + 280 days (40 weeks). It assumes a 28-day cycle with ovulation on day 14. If your cycle is longer or shorter, this tool adjusts by the difference. Only about 4% of babies arrive on the calculated EDD — most arrive within 2 weeks before or after. For a precise estimate, get an early ultrasound (8-12 weeks) — those are the most accurate dating method.

Pregnancy Milestones

Week 4-6
First positive pregnancy test possible. First doctor visit.
Week 8-12
First ultrasound. Heartbeat visible.
Week 12
End of first trimester. Risk of miscarriage drops sharply.
Week 18-22
Anatomy scan ultrasound. Can determine gender.
Week 24
Viability — baby can survive (with NICU support) if born now.
Week 28
Third trimester begins.
Week 36
Considered 'early term' — birth common from this point.
Week 37-40
Full term. Baby is ready to arrive any day.
Week 40+
EDD passes. Doctors typically discuss induction by week 41-42.

Frequently Asked

How accurate is this calculator?
The EDD is a best estimate based on a standard 40-week pregnancy. Only ~4% of babies arrive on the exact EDD — most come 1-2 weeks earlier or later. For the most precise dating, an ultrasound between weeks 8-12 is gold standard (within ±3 days). After week 20, ultrasound dating becomes less precise.
What if my cycle isn't 28 days?
Adjust the cycle length field. If your cycle is 32 days (4 days longer than average), your EDD shifts 4 days later. Cycles shorter than 28 days shift the EDD earlier. The tool handles this automatically when using the LMP method.
Should I worry if I deliver before or after the EDD?
Delivery anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks is considered normal. Below 37 weeks is 'preterm' and may need extra care. After 42 weeks, doctors usually discuss induction. The EDD is a target — natural variation is wide.
When should I see a doctor in Nepal?
First visit ideally before week 12. Recommended antenatal visits: at least 4 (per WHO), or 8 (per Nepal Ministry of Health) — at 12, 20, 26, 30, 34, 36, 38, and 40 weeks. Government hospitals provide free antenatal care under the Aama Surakshya Karyakram. Private hospitals also offer comprehensive packages.
What's the difference between LMP and conception date?
Ovulation typically happens about 14 days into a 28-day cycle, so conception is ~14 days after the LMP. If you know your conception date precisely (IVF, tracked ovulation, single intercourse), use that — it's more accurate than LMP estimation.
