Real-world mileage is usually 10-20% lower than advertised mileage — city traffic, AC use, hill terrain, and load all eat into efficiency. For Nepal's hilly roads, knock about 15% off the figures above. The presets reflect realistic ride-the-roads mileage, not factory specs.

Frequently Asked

Why are NOC prices different for different cities?
Transport costs from the Indian border. Fuel arrives in Nepal via tankers from Indian refineries; cities closer to the border (Biratnagar, Birgunj, Nepalgunj) get slightly lower prices because there's less inland transport. Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal pay the highest because of the longer haul into the hills.
How often do prices change?
NOC reviews prices monthly based on the import cost from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) plus a margin. Recently prices have been changing every 1-3 months. Major political events or international oil shocks can trigger off-cycle revisions.
How do I find my vehicle's actual mileage?
Easy test: fill the tank to the brim, reset the trip meter, drive normally for 100+ km, then refill and note how many litres it took. Mileage = distance ÷ litres. Do this 2-3 times and average. Real mileage usually beats your owner-manual figure because manuals quote ideal-conditions numbers.
Why does my SUV consume so much more than the brochure says?
Brochure figures are tested on flat highway at 60 km/h with no AC. Real Nepali driving means hills, traffic jams, AC on, and frequent stops — all of which knock 20-30% off the advertised figure. EVs are an exception because regenerative braking actually helps in hills.
Diesel vs Petrol — which is cheaper to run?
Per litre, diesel is more expensive (Rs 225 vs Rs 217 in Kathmandu). But diesel engines typically deliver 20-30% better mileage, so the cost per km is similar or slightly lower with diesel. Diesel cars also cost more to buy, so the payback only works if you drive 15,000+ km/year.
